About Us

Lone River Outfitters traces its heritage back over 40 years, beginning with the pioneering efforts of Sonny Johnson at Ministikwan Lake in Saskatchewan. Later, Paul (his son-in-law) carried the torch forward—elevating guiding, improving camps, and shaping the experience through both the seasons and the changing land. Today under new ownership, we carry forward that legacy with fresh energy, while honoring the traditions, knowledge, and respect for the land passed down by those who came before.

Our home base is situated on a working farm just six miles from the Village of Pierceland, Saskatchewan, about 20 minutes from the original camp’s location. The land is expansive, diverse, and rich with game. Although our camp has moved to better accommodate our changing needs, many of the stands and hunting grounds remain in the original territories—but with new stretches of territory added over time.

We are family owned and operated, and our guiding values carry through every aspect of what we do—from our children helping with baiting and skinning, to our dedication to “work hard, play hard” outdoors life. Our guides are hunters themselves, with a deep knowledge of local terrain, game behavior, and seasons. We believe in giving each hunter a personal, memorable experience—not just the chance of a harvest, but a real adventure in nature.

At Lone River Outfitters, we’re committed to delivering the same exceptional experience that Johnson’s established over decades. Expect Boone & Crockett caliber Whitetail, massive Black Bear boars, thoughtfully prepared home-cooked meals (including farm-raised beef and hearty soups made for those long hours in stand), and accommodations that aim to feel like a home away from home.
